An International Forum on “Dialogue for Sustainable Green Development: Investing in a Shared Future” Was Held at Green University
On March 30, 2026, the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) hosted an international forum titled “Dialogue for Sustainable Green Development: Investing in a Shared Future”.
The forum was dedicated to issues of sustainable development, ensuring ecological balance, and accelerating the transition to a green economy. It brought together representatives of government bodies, leaders of international organizations, experts, and specialists in the field of ecology.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change; Ismail Belen, Chair of the United Nations Forum on Forests; Jimin Wu, Director of the Forestry Division at FAO (via video message); as well as Juliette Biao, Director of the Secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests. The speakers highlighted the significance of the forum and its role in advancing international cooperation.
As part of the event, distinguished professionals who have made significant contributions to the development of the forestry sector were honored. In particular, jubilee medals commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Russian Forest Protection Center, as well as “Honored Worker of Forestry of the Republic of Uzbekistan” badges, were awarded.
During the plenary session titled “Forests as a Driver of a Sustainable Economy: International Cooperation for Shared Development,” participants discussed key issues such as expanding investments in the forestry sector, strengthening regional cooperation, improving the legal framework, and introducing modern knowledge and technologies.
At the conclusion of the forum, participants engaged in discussions and exchanged views, with experts providing answers to pressing questions.
Within the framework of the event, a field mission titled “Green Renaissance” was also organized. Participants visited the dendrology garden, where they ознакомились with ongoing practical initiatives in the field.
The forum serves to further strengthen international cooperation in ensuring environmental sustainability, protecting forest resources, and advancing the development of a green economy.
