Master’s Degree is a day program that can be completed within a period of two years. The number of modules varies in each master’s program. All modules of the Master’s Degree in 2023-2024 are taught only in English.

 

The main purpose of the program:

  • Help participants to become capable and competent specialists, and managers in a range of organizations operating within an increasingly international setting;  
  • Provide a sound knowledge base in environment studies such as environmental law and Journalism;
  • Promote the growth of an innovative mindset, an open mind, and awareness in the areas of Sustainable Development and Finance.

Environmental Law

Environmental Law The Master's in Environmental Law program aims to provide students with advanced knowledge of environmental law and policy to prepare them for leadership roles in this field. The objectives of the program are: • Develop skills in legal research, analysis, and application of environmental laws to real-world problems. • Gain understanding of environmental compliance and enforcement at all levels of government as well as within corporations. • Learn the role of environmental law within the greater policy and regulatory framework to critique and improve legal approaches. • Foster critical thinking to evaluate environmental laws and propose innovative policy and regulatory solutions. • Teach various forms of dispute resolution, advocacy, and negotiation used in environmental legal contexts. • Prepare graduates to enter careers such as environmental lawyers, compliance officers, policy advisors, government regulators, legal researchers, and advocates. The program aims to develop expert environmental law practitioners who can use their specialized legal knowledge and critical analysis skills to help shape and apply environmental law and policy.

Environmental Journalism

Environmental Law The Master's in Environmental Journalism program aims to train sophisticated journalists to effectively report on the complex environmental issues facing society today. The objectives of the program are: • Build strong research, writing, data analysis, and multimedia production skills tailored to environmental reporting. • Develop scientific literacy on topics like climate change, conservation, pollution, sustainability, and the environment-human health nexus. • Foster critical thinking to synthesize complex information and recognize eco-justice dimensions of stories. • Teach best practices in journalism ethics, sourcing, and story development to produce trustworthy environmental news. • Provide hands-on experiential learning through newsroom collaborations, field reporting, and investigative projects. • Connect students to veteran environmental journalists, editors, and media outlets for mentorship and networking.

Sustainable Development

The Master's in Sustainable Development program aims to provide students with an interdisciplinary understanding of sustainability along with professional skills to lead and manage sustainability initiatives. The objectives of the program are: • Build literacy in systems thinking, sustainability science, and practices for evaluating environmental, social, and economic impacts. • Develop expertise in applying tools like indicator metrics, life cycle analysis, and scenario planning to inform sustainable policies, strategies, and innovations. • Gain knowledge of strategies for sustainable management of organizations, supply chains, buildings, transportation, energy, water, and materials use. • Learn how to integrate sustainability across operations, product and service development, marketing, finance, and stakeholder engagement. • Foster leadership abilities including systems analysis, ethical reasoning, futures thinking, and communication to lead change. • Provide real-world learning through projects, internships, and engagement with sustainability professionals. • Prepare graduates for careers as sustainability directors, managers, coordinators, analysts, consultants, and change agents across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The program aims to develop strategic leaders who can analyze complexity, manage sustainability, and drive organizational change towards ecological integrity and social justice.

Sustainable Finance

The Master's in Sustainable Finance program aims to equip students with the specialized knowledge and skills to advance sustainable investment and environmentally responsible business practices. The objectives of the program are: • Provide strong foundational knowledge in conventional finance theories, models, and analysis. • Develop understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities and how to integrate them into financial analysis. • Build expertise in sustainable investment strategies, green financial products, impact investing, and innovative financing mechanisms for sustainability. • Learn techniques for corporate sustainability reporting, accounting, and audit. • Gain insights into ethical consumerism, sustainable shareholder engagement, and responsible lending and underwriting processes. • Foster systems thinking skills to connect micro-economic decisions to macro-level environmental and social implications. • Prepare graduates for careers as sustainable investment managers, ESG analysts, green finance consultants, corporate sustainability officers, and related positions. The program aims to develop strategic finance leaders who can redirect capital and transform business practices towards an ethical, responsible, and regenerative economy. • Equip graduates for careers as environmental reporters, editors, producers, and fact-checkers in media, public relations, nonprofits, and more. The program aims to develop skilled environmental journalists who can produce compelling, ethics-driven journalism to increase public understanding of pressing ecological issues and sustainability solutions.
