The Research Institute of Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation Technologies has a long history, originating in 1960 as a laboratory for water management research. Over the decades, it evolved through various restructurings under the Soviet and Uzbek governments, contributing significantly to environmental protection, water resource management, and sustainable development. The institute has participated in numerous international projects, secured patents, and received prestigious awards for its research. In 2023, it was integrated into the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies – Green University under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Research Institute established a Scientific Council for awarding academic degrees in 2022, with seven researchers having obtained their PhD diplomas to date. Institute staff regularly participate in international internships and seminars while implementing initiatives to expand its scientific base and establish modern laboratories. In 2024, advanced technologies for monitoring water, soil, and air quality were introduced. Research is being conducted on climate change, dust storms, and erosion control, with partnerships established with international organizations such as UNEP, the World Bank, JICA, and IUCN. The institute is also implementing projects under the 2024 scientific-technical program of the Innovation Development Agency, focusing on the Aral Sea region’s ecology, artificial intelligence, and bioengineering technologies.Research Institute of Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation Technologies

The institute has a long history of nearly 100 years. It was first established in 1927 as the only forest experimental station in Central Asia. Later, in 1940, the station was granted the status of the Uzbekistan Agroforestry and Forestry Institute, and in 1948, it became the Central Asian Forestry Research Institute. The institute was reorganized based on the Presidential Decree No. PP-2966, dated May 11, 2017, titled "On the Organization of the Activities of the State Committee on Forestry of the Republic of Uzbekistan", and was established on the basis of the Republican Scientific and Production Center for Ornamental Horticulture and Forestry. Later, based on Presidential Decree No. PQ-171, dated May 31, 2023, titled "On Measures to Effectively Organize the Activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change", the Forestry Research Institute was reorganized as part of the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Studies (Green University). The development of scientific and production activities in the field of hydrometeorology in Uzbekistan began in the 1870s. In 1867, the first regular meteorological observations were conducted in Tashkent, marking the beginning of systematic studies on the natural environment of the Turkestan region. On May 7, 1921, the Turkestan Meteorological Institute was established based on the physical division (magnetism and meteorology departments) of the Tashkent Observatory and the meteorology department of the hydrometric structure of the Turkestan region. Later, on November 10, 1957, by order of the Hydrometeorological Service Main Directorate under the Council of Ministers of the former Soviet Union, the Central Asian Scientific Research Hydrometeorology Institute was re-established on the basis of the Tashkent Scientific-Geophysical Observatory (TNIGO). More recently, according to Presidential Order No. PQ–171, issued on May 31, 2023, titled "Measures for the Effective Organization of the Activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change," along with the decision of the same date regarding "Measures for Organizing the Activities of the Central Asia Environmental and Climate Change Research University (Green University)" (hereinafter referred to as the University), the status, key objectives, functions, and organizational structure of the Hydrometeorology Scientific Research Institute have been formally defined. The center was established in September 22, 2016, according to resolution No. 321 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The center started its operations under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 2023, in accordance with Presidential Decree № PD-171, it was integrated into the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies – Green University under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The primary objective and goal of the Center is to continuously enhance the professional knowledge, skills, and expertise of employees working in the field of environmental protection and initiate environment related training courses for other sectors. The center was established in 2005. Its area of activity is scientific institutions in sectoral directions. The “Eco-Energy” Scientific Implementation Center State Unitary Enterprise aims to contribute to the development of environmentally friendly energy systems in our country by actively participating in this important process through scientific research, the development of innovative technologies, and their practical implementation. Among the center’s main objectives are energy saving, the expansion of renewable energy sources, ensuring environmental sustainability, and promoting international scientific cooperation. As a result of the implementation of its strategic plan, the “Eco-Energy” Scientific Implementation Center SUE aims to become one of the leading scientific and practical centers in Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region in the field of environmental and energy efficiency. This strategic plan outlines 5-year priority directions for further development of the activities of the “Eco-Energy” Scientific Implementation Center SUE, efficient use of sustainable energy sources, and the implementation of environmentally friendly technologies. The history of the "Darxon Scientific-Experimental Farm" dates back to the 1930s, initially established as the "Central Asian Research Institute of Forestry" (СрерАзНИИЛХ). It became a major scientific center in the region, focused on forestry and desert reclamation research in Central Asia. The institute specialized in forest creation in various geographical zones, stabilizing sand dunes, and land reclamation in desert areas. In the years following independence, the institute’s structure was revised, and some of its departments were merged with other scientific institutions. The scientific experience accumulated by "СрерАзНИИЛХ," particularly its research on creating forest plantations in desert and semi-desert areas, still serves as a key scientific foundation for the development of forestry in Central Asia today. In 2005, the State Forestry Committee reorganized it as the "Darxon Scientific-Experimental Farm," focusing on research in forest resource management and ensuring ecological sustainability. The Tashkent Hydrometeorology Technical College was established in 1948. In 2004, it was renamed the Tashkent Hydrometeorology Vocational College. In accordance with the Decree No. PQ-4896 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 17, 2020, the Tashkent Hydrometeorology Vocational College was reorganized into the Tashkent Hydrometeorology Technical College. According to the Presidential Decree No. PQ-171 dated May 31, 2023, “On effective organization of the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change” the Tashkent Hydrometeorology Technical College was transferred from the structure of the Hydrometeorology Service Agency of Uzbekistan to the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University). The Forestry Technical College was originally established in 1997 as the "Tashkent District Social-Economic College" and, based on the Decree “On additional measures to improve the professional education system” No. PF-5812 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on September 6, 2019, it was transformed into the Tashkent District Forestry College under the State Forestry Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In accordance with the Decree No. 701 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 9, 2020, the Tashkent District Forestry College was reorganized into the Forestry Technical College. Based on the Presidential Decree No. PQ-171 dated May 31, 2023, “On effective organization of the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change”, the Forestry Technical College was transferred to the management of the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University).Research Institute of Forestry
