Tom Wassenaar Delivers First Lecture on Organic Waste (Re-)Cycling at Green University
Green University hosted the first lecture by Tom Wassenaar, Researcher in Territorial Ecology and Deputy Director of the Research Department “Waste Processing and Risks” at the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), France.
During the 1–1.5-hour session titled “(Organic) Waste (Re-)Cycling — Why?”, Wassenaar introduced students and faculty to the fundamental concepts shaping modern waste management. The lecture explored a structured sequence of topics, including:

• the relationship between waste and the environment;
• the role of waste in the circular economy;
• organic waste and its recycling pathways.
The lecture provided participants with a deeper understanding of sustainable waste management practices and highlighted the importance of integrating ecological approaches within modern environmental policy frameworks.
Wassenaar’s presentation marked the beginning of a series of expert-led sessions dedicated to advancing knowledge on environmental sustainability at Green University
