Green University Hosted International Dialogue on “Peace, Water and Sustainable Development: Building Peace and Resilience in Central Asia”

On 11 July 2026, the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) hosted the Green University Dialogue, dedicated to the interconnection between peace, water resources, and sustainable development in the region.


The event opened with remarks by Mr. Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change.


A keynote address was delivered by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and former United Nations Special Advisor on the Sustainable Development Goals.


The program continued with a High-Level Dialogue, moderated by Dr. Hamid Pouran, focusing on:

Peacebuilding through environmental cooperation

Sustainable water management in Central Asia

Climate resilience and ecosystem restoration


The Green University Dialogue reaffirmed the University’s commitment to serving as an international platform for knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, and academic cooperation. By bringing together global expertise and regional leadership, the event strengthened collective efforts to advance peace, sustainable water management, and climate resilience, contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future for Central Asia.
