At the moment, the 61st Session of the Working Group on "strategies for cross-border air pollution" is taking place in the city of Geneva.

The session was organized by the secretariat of the UN Convention on long-distance Transboundary Air Pollution, established by the European Economic Commission. Azizjon Kalimbetov, head of the Department of atmospheric air protection policy of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and climate change, also takes part in it.

It should be noted that the Convention on long-distance cross-border air pollution, adopted by the UN European Economic Commission in 1979, provided an international legal framework for action in the joint fight against atmospheric air pollution.

The core principles of the convention are the protection of human health and the environment from the adverse effects of pollution, research and monitoring of atmospheric air pollution and its consequences on a regional scale.

This convention is one of the main international agreements aimed at reducing polluting emissions into atmospheric air.

For reference, the convention is a participant in the 51-state convention, which came into force in 1983 and at the same time falls within the territorial framework of the UN ICRC.

As in the whole world, the expected development of energy in our country at present can lead to excessive air pollution with exhaust gases.

This has a negative impact on human health. The convention therefore allows for specific measures to control and reduce air strikes in Uzbekistan as well as neighboring countries in Central Asia. As a result, it is possible to achieve a significant reduction in throws and its negative effects on human health.
