On May 14, 2026, a press conference dedicated to the international environmental exhibition “Eco Expo Central Asia 2026,” the Eighth Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), as well as the activities of Green University and “green” technical colleges, was held at the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University). The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Ecology Jusipbek Kazbekov, officials of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, Rector of Green University Dr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, representatives of affiliated institutions, and members of the mass media. The press conference focused on advancing environmental education, science, and innovation in Uzbekistan, expanding the principles of the green economy, and strengthening international environmental cooperation.

During the event, Rector of Green University Dr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov delivered a presentation on the university’s activities and its strategic priorities.

“Today, the world is facing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, water scarcity, and land degradation. Under these conditions, environmental education, scientific research, and innovation are becoming the key drivers of a sustainable future. Green University was established precisely to address these challenges and today operates not only as an academic and scientific institution, but also as a modern ecosystem based on the ‘science–project–practice’ model, integrating environmental education, research, and innovation,” the Rector stated.

As noted during the conference, the university currently includes 4 research institutes, 6 scientific and innovation centers, more than 10 modern laboratories, and 14 “green” technical colleges operating across the country.

In addition, the university system includes a number of specialized structures aimed at developing digital education, applied scientific research, and environmental innovation. These include the Aral Sea Region International Innovation Center, scientific platforms, and specialized research centers.

It was also announced that Green University plans to establish 14 dendrological parks and 14 botanical gardens across the regions of Uzbekistan. These facilities will serve as practical training and research bases for the “green” technical colleges. Furthermore, the creation of “green belts” surrounding these sites is envisaged as part of broader efforts to strengthen environmental protection and ecosystem sustainability.

The participants also emphasized that “Eco Expo Central Asia 2026” and the GEF Eighth Assembly will serve as major international platforms for discussing key issues related to climate change, environmental sustainability, and the development of the green economy.

At the conclusion of the event, experts provided detailed answers to questions raised by media representatives.
