Meeting between Green University and GIZ Representatives

Green University hosted an official meeting with representatives of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) within the framework of the regional project “Green Skills for a Green Economy in Central Asia (PROGRESS)”.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Udo Folkers, Project Manager of GIZ, and Mr. Jahongir Juraev, Project Advisor in Uzbekistan. From Green University, the meeting was led by Dr. Shahriyor Nurulloyev, the Acting Rector of the University.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential areas of cooperation in promoting green skills and sustainable development education in Uzbekistan. The dialogue focused on opportunities for integrating vocational training and capacity-building programs aimed at preparing young professionals for the growing green economy.
Both sides emphasized the importance of developing human capital to support the transition to environmentally sustainable and resource-efficient economic models. The representatives from GIZ shared insights into the ongoing activities of the PROGRESS project, which aims to strengthen institutional and human capacities for green growth in Central Asia.
Following the formal discussions, Dr. Nurulloyev conducted a brief tour of the Green University campus, showcasing the university’s facilities, ongoing green initiatives, and its commitment to sustainability-focused education.
This meeting marks the beginning of strengthened cooperation between Green University and GIZ towards fostering sustainability-focused education and training for the next generation of green economy professionals.
