From 29 May to 6 June 2026, Rector of Green University Dr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov participated as part of the delegation of the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Climate Change in the events held in Urumqi, the People’s Republic of China, within the framework of the first meeting of the Dialogue Mechanism between the heads of national research institutions of China and Central Asian countries, as well as the 9th China–Eurasia EXPO.

As part of the visit, more than 20 bilateral meetings were held with the leadership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, leading higher education institutions and research organizations. In addition, members of the delegation took part in five plenary and thematic sessions, international side events, as well as the activities of more than 10 exhibition pavilions organized within the framework of the 9th China–Eurasia EXPO.

During the meetings, prospects for cooperation in the fields of ecology, climate change, scientific research, and innovation were discussed. Presentations were organized during negotiations with representatives of leading Chinese companies and organizations to engage them in participation in the Eco Expo Central Asia–2027 international exhibition.

One of the significant outcomes of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Forest Research Institute under Green University and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, aimed at cooperation in the areas of forest ecosystems, combating desertification, climate change, and biodiversity conservation.

Furthermore, meetings with Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Xi Hongping, the leadership of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, as well as representatives of leading higher education and research institutions addressed issues related to the establishment of joint laboratories, training of scientific personnel, development of academic mobility, and participation in international grant programmes.

The outcomes of the visit are of strategic importance for Green University, opening new opportunities to expand international scientific cooperation, implement joint projects, and develop long-term partnerships in the field of environmental sustainability.
