Learning Beyond the Classroom!

Prof. Laylo Yakhshiboeva, together with students from the Sustainability and Environmental Management course, organized an inspiring field visit to ACWA Power’s renewable energy project, where a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is being constructed to connect the photovoltaic station to the Tashkent-500 kV power grid — a perfect example of how innovation and responsibility are driving Uzbekistan’s green transition.

We were honored to be hosted by Aziza Sharapova, ESG Specialist at ACWA Power, who shared valuable insights on the company’s sustainability practices, community engagement, and commitment to building a cleaner energy future.

This visit allowed students to see how global ESG principles are applied in real projects — from renewable energy generation and storage to environmental and social impact management.

Such experiences help bridge the gap between theory and practice, inspiring our future sustainability leaders to think critically and act responsibly for a greener tomorrow.
