Green University Students Participate in International Research Projects

Students of the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies (“Green University”) have been awarded grant funding under the United Arab Emirates University’s “SDGs Research Program”, within the framework of the “UN Sustainable Development Goals Research Program”, in the track titled “Supporting Sustainable Development Goals through Undergraduate Student Research.”

Currently, 10 Green University undergraduate students are actively involved in the following research projects:

-Sustainable Food Innovation: Biotransformation of food waste into microbial nanocellulose for the production of probiotic ice cream;

-Environmental Rights and Climate Resilience: Integration of digital elevation models, drone-based photogrammetry, and terrain analysis into Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);

-AI-Based Smart Gardens and Storytelling Technologies: Transformative pedagogy on climate and food systems for schools in the UAE and Uzbekistan;

-Reducing Food Waste in the Commercial Sector: Structural modeling and spatial analysis approaches;

-Enhancing Residential Energy Efficiency: Development of guidelines and thermographic testing protocols.

Practical implementation of the projects will begin in January 2026 and will continue for a period of six months, followed by phased implementation during 2026–2029. Furthermore, projects that achieve strong research outcomes, including the publication of 2–3 articles in Q1-ranked journals, will be eligible to participate in a new SDG-focused research project in the subsequent year.
