Green University Hosted ICBA Meeting on Spirulina Cultivation Laboratory

Green University successfully hosted a meeting with representatives from the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) to discuss the establishment of a Spirulina laboratory in Tashkent. The meeting focused on enhancing research capacity and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Integrated Aquaculture Agriculture System (IAAS) activities in Karakalpakstan.

During the session, participants reviewed the proposed laboratory infrastructure, including wet and dry lab sections for cultivation, monitoring, and analysis of Spirulina. Key equipment such as growth chambers, laminar flow hoods, pH and conductivity meters, microscopes, centrifuges, and autoclaves were discussed to support high-quality research and production.

The meeting also highlighted the laboratory’s role as a training and demonstration center, empowering local scientists, farmers, and students to adopt innovative practices in saline agriculture and microalgae-based production systems. The initiative was intended to contribute to regional food security, promote resource-efficient technologies, and strengthen the scientific foundation for sustainable development in saline-affected areas of Central Asia.

Green University and ICBA emphasized collaboration to implement best practices in Spirulina cultivation, and planned to continue cooperation and knowledge exchange to advance research and training in sustainable aquaculture and agriculture.
