Green University and ADB Join Forces to Advance ESG Education in Uzbekistan

On October 7, 2025, Green University hosted a strategic meeting between representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), UzAssets JSC (Investment Company), and the university leadership. The meeting focused on the launch of the ESG Center of Excellence, an initiative aimed at building national capacity in sustainable development and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) practices.

The project, implemented with the support of ADB, aims to provide systematic training for executives and specialists of Uzbekistan’s state-owned enterprises on international ESG standards and principles of sustainable development. Its core mission is to develop a skilled workforce to lead the “green” transformation of key economic sectors.

During the meeting, the goals of the Center were presented and outlined potential areas of collaboration with Green University.

The proposed partnership formats include:

• Expert Involvement – Engaging professors and experts from Green University as lecturers or members of the Center’s Advisory Board.
• Academic Recognition – Joint development of certification programs that can be credited as academic courses or professional development programs.
• Student Internships – Establishing internship opportunities for top-performing Green University students within ESG departments of state-owned enterprises.
• Joint Research and Events – Organizing roundtables and collaborative studies on ESG topics relevant to Uzbekistan.

The meeting concluded with mutual interest in launching joint initiatives and establishing long-term cooperation between the Center and Green University.
