FAO Kicks Off Gender Strategy Work at Green University
Green University hosted the inaugural working meeting dedicated to the development of the new Gender Strategy for Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology. The session was organized with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), marking the official start of a key policy initiative aimed at strengthening gender equality in the country’s environmental and climate agenda.
The meeting brought together senior representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, FAO experts, and international specialists experienced in gender-responsive environmental governance. Participants discussed priority areas for ensuring equal opportunities for women and men in environmental policy, climate action, natural resource management, and decision-making processes.
During the session, experts emphasized the importance of integrating gender considerations into national environmental programs, enhancing institutional capacities, and creating mechanisms that support women’s leadership in climate-related fields. The insights and recommendations shared will serve as the foundation for drafting the new Gender Strategy.
Hosting this event underscores Green University’s role as an emerging national platform for dialogue, research, and capacity-building in the field of environmental and climate policy. The university is proud to have initiated this significant step toward more inclusive, equitable, and forward-thinking ecological governance in Uzbekistan.
