Dialogue on Climate and Ecology: Green University Students Meet National and International Experts
On November 21, 2025, as part of ongoing regional cooperation in environmental protection, sustainable natural resource management, and climate policy, students and faculty of the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) met with representatives of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, as well as senior officials from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention.
During the discussion, participants emphasized the importance of collaboration with international conservation organizations and the preparation of a new generation of environmental professionals in the region. Among the speakers were J. Kazbekov, Deputy Chairperson of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change; Gretel Aguilar, Director General of IUCN; Musonda Mumba, Regional Coordinator of IUCN; and B. Pulatov, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. They delivered remarks on national and international environmental policy priorities, global conservation initiatives, and sustainable development efforts.
Students actively participated in the Q&A session, raising questions about pressing environmental challenges in Central Asia, including sustainable resource management, climate change impacts, water resource protection, and biodiversity conservation. The discussion covered both national initiatives and international programs, as well as pathways for integrating best environmental practices into the future professional work of young specialists.
