A “Spirulina” Laboratory to Be Established at Green University in Cooperation with ICBA
On January 28, 2026, an official meeting was held at Green University with a delegation led by Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA).
During the meeting, ICBA proposed establishing a “Spirulina” laboratory at the university in cooperation with Green University within the framework of the project “Development of Sustainable Agricultural Production Systems in Degraded Areas of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.”

The laboratory will serve as a scientific and practical platform for cultivating spirulina under controlled conditions, as well as for monitoring and analysis. In addition to research activities, it will function as a training and demonstration center.
The initiative aims to support the development of agriculture in saline-affected areas and promote the introduction of innovative microalgae-based production systems.
The laboratory is planned to be located in the building of the Environmental Technologies Research Institute under Green University. It is scheduled to be launched by May 31 of this year.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue technical cooperation and organize additional visits within the framework of the project.
