Central Asian Forum of Ecologists and Eco-Activists Held at Green University

On April 8, 2026, the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) in Tashkent hosted the Central Asian Forum of Ecologists and Eco-Activists on ''Legal Mechanisms for Environmental Protection.''
Organized in partnership with “Yuksalish” Movement, the forum served as a key platform for dialogue among policymakers, legal experts, environmental specialists, and eco-activists from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Rector of Green University, and Bobur Bekmurodov, Chairman of the “Yuksalish” Movement and Chairman of the Legislative Chamber Committee. In their speeches, they emphasized the growing importance of strengthening legal frameworks for environmental protection and fostering regional cooperation.
The panel session featured expert discussions on key issues such as Uzbekistan’s evolving environmental policy, law enforcement practices in ecology, green urban development, and public participation in environmental decision-making. International experts from Kazakhstan shared valuable insights, including best practices in applying Aarhus Convention mechanisms, urban air quality management, and the development of eco-startups and sustainable financing models.
The forum also included an open discussion segment, allowing participants to exchange views and propose recommendations. The event concluded with the presentation of the draft Final Resolution, outlining key proposals to enhance environmental governance and legal protection mechanisms.
