28 July 202628 July 2026, the National Biodiversity Data and Geo-Information Platform was officially launched at the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia at Green University.

The event was organized on the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day and brought together representatives of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Uzbekistan, Green University, research institutions, and environmental experts.

The opening session was moderated by Dr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Rector of Green University.

The event was attended by Mr. Jusipbek Kazbekov, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Ms. Akiko Fujii, Resident Representative of UNDP in Uzbekistan.

During the ceremony, participants were presented with the new Biodiversity and Protected Areas Geo-Information Platform, a digital solution designed to improve biodiversity data management, environmental monitoring, and decision-making processes.

As part of the program, a video prepared by the Aral Sea Wetlands Project was presented, highlighting the biodiversity of the Aral Sea Basin and the role of the new platform in supporting ecosystem conservation.

The event also included an interactive discussion session, where experts exchanged views on improving biodiversity monitoring systems, strengthening environmental data management, and expanding the use of digital technologies in nature conservation.
