International Scientific-Practical Conference: “Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development in Central Asia”

The Central Asian International University for Environmental and Climate Studies – Green University, in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz (Germany), held an international scientific-practical conference on “Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development in Central Asia.”
The main purpose of this international event was to bring together the scientific approaches, practical experiences, and innovative perspectives of scholars, researchers, practitioners, and international experts in the field of sustainable tourism development in Central Asia. The conference also addressed issues of regional integration, economic growth, and challenges in the tourism sector, along with potential solutions.
The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by Mr. Jusipbek Kazbekov, Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Dr. Shahriyor Akhtamovich Nurulloyev, Vice-Rector of Green University; and Ms. Corinne Karlaganis from Germany.
Prof. Dr. Abror Juraev (Bukhara State University) – “Sustainable Tourism in Uzbekistan: Opportunities and Challenges Towards 2030”
Prof. Dr. Nicole Häusler (International University, Hamburg) – “Tourism Dialogues and Conflict Prevention through Civil Society Engagement”
Prof. Zou Tongqian (Silk Road International University of Tourism, Samarkand) – “Climate Change and Tourism Transformation: Theoretical Approaches and Best Practices”
Dr. Khusniddin Egamnazarov (Tashkent State University of Economics) – “Undiscovered Tourism Opportunities in Uzbekistan”
Mr. Florian Eitzenberger (University of Applied Sciences Konstanz, Germany) – “Sustainability Prism 4.0: A Model of Sustainable Tourism in World Heritage Cities”
In the second half of the day, various thematic sessions featured scientific presentations, including:

The Role of Sustainable Rural Tourism in Economic Development – Dr. Nargiza Juraeva
Prospects of Creative Tourism – Ms. Corinne Karlaganis
Rural Tourism and Heritage Preservation in Central Asia – Dr. Umidakhon Narzullaeva
Green Financing and Sustainable Tourism – Dr. Nilufar Rahimova
Culture and Tourist Motivation – Dr. Gantulga Urandelger (Mongolia)
The Importance of Ecotourism in Fragile Landscapes – Mr. Khurshid Rustamov
Bibliometric Analysis of Heritage Tourism – Mr. Su Hao (Samarkand)
At the end of the conference, scientific-theoretical and practical recommendations were developed. Participants emphasized that sustainable tourism plays a key role not only in economic development but also in environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage, and strengthening regional cooperation.
