Green University Expands Cooperation with UAE in Sustainable Development Research
On 26 November 2025, Green University hosted a delegation from the United Arab Emirates University (UAE) led by Khalid Alhabi. The meeting reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation, key achievements, and future priorities in the areas of ecology, environmental protection, climate change, and scientific research.
During the discussion, both sides highlighted the successful launch of the UAE–Green University SDGs Research Program, initiated in mid-2025. Green University’s faculty and students actively participated in the grant competition under the theme “Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals through Undergraduate Student Research.” The University leadership emphasized its commitment to utilizing all institutional capacities to advance the project.
The total value of the joint grant program is 40,000 dirhams (1.23 billion UZS). The program requires participants to be full-time faculty members and students with at least one year before graduation, and to possess strong knowledge of the UN SDGs. Expected outcomes include poster presentations, Q1 journal publications, and patents.
UAE announced that the following Green University projects had secured funding:
• Sustainable food innovation through microbial nanocellulose production;
• Integration of drone-based terrain analysis into SDG monitoring;
• AI-driven climate and food systems pedagogy for schools;
• Reduction of food waste in the commercial sector;
• Improving thermal efficiency in housing through new testing protocols.
Practical implementation will begin in January 2026, continue for six months, and be phased in through 2026–2029.
The UAEU leadership congratulated Green University on its achievements and expressed readiness to expand joint scientific initiatives. The University was also invited to participate in the UN International Water Conference to be held in the UAE in 2026.
