CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia Opens at Green University’s New Campus
November 19, 2025 — Green University has officially inaugurated the International Research Center for Ecology and the Environment of Central Asia (CAS Research Center) at its new campus in Tashkent. The Center was established with the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and the Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources) and is aimed at advancing scientific cooperation in the fields of ecology and climate research across the region.
The event brought together more than 100 participants, including government officials, faculty members, experts, and students. The Uzbek delegation included the Deputy Chairperson of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, as well as heads of key departments, representatives of forestry and green development agencies, and faculty and students of Green University.
The Chinese side was represented by: Yang Xiangzhen and Song Changdong (First Secretaries of the Embassy of China in Uzbekistan), Zhang Yuanmin (Director of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography), Wang Jing (Chief Scientist at BGI Group), and Qiao Jiangfang (Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Chinese Academy of Sciences).
