Green University hosts the national seminar-training “Environmental Culture Starts in Mahalla”

Today, on May 7, a national seminar-training titled “Environmental Culture Begins in the Mahalla” was held at Green University in Tashkent region. The event brought together more than 140 participants, including representatives of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, The Uzbekistan Mahalla Association, various system organizations, mahalla activists, and civil society institutions. During the seminar, participants discussed key issues such as enhancing environmental culture, shaping ecological awareness among the population, waste management, expanding green areas, developing the environmental education system, and implementing the nationwide “Eco-Culture” project. In the opening session, the Rector of Green University, Dr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of cooperation between educational institutions, the mahalla system, and civil society in fostering environmental culture. He also highlighted that developing environmental education and raising a generation with a responsible attitude toward nature remains one of the priority directions of Green University. Throughout the seminar, experts delivered presentations on environmental education, prevention of environmental violations, expansion of green zones in regions, waste management, and the introduction of the “Eco-Active Citizen” status. At the conclusion of the event, participants outlined key future priorities aimed at promoting environmental culture, strengthening green initiatives in mahallas, and further enhancing cooperation between government bodies and civil society institutions.
